The College of North Atlantic-Qatar is located in Doha, Qatar and affiliated with Canada’s College of the North Atlantic.
Established in 2002, the college consists of over 30 faculties and has educated thousands of students since its founding.
Different users, diverse needs
When CNA-Q came to us, each department at the university was using its own intranet or a similar tool.
CNA-Q needed an integrated intranet solution that would allow faculties, professors, and students to communicate. It also had to facilitate communication within administrative units and between students.
Besides the technical requirements, the project had to take into account the delicate relations within the organization. As at any university, all deans and faculty heads were strong advocates for their various departments. We had to propose one solution that would meet all of their needs.
Design Thinking in action
The most important element of the solution was the discovery phase. We knew that it needed to be especially robust for a project like this with such a large number of stakeholders. For four weeks, our consultants lived on the university campus to better understand the needs of staff and students.
Over the course of 12 design thinking workshops, we collected user requirements, pains, and goals. These findings were the basis for the intranet architecture that we designed, starting with wireframes and clickable prototypes
We then conducted in-person usability tests on the prototypes. In subsequent stages of the design, we continued remote testing with real users to ensure the best user experience.
Our team also linked the intranet to the college’s extranet so that new applicants are immediately connected to the administrative environment of the organization.
The entire solution was based on SharePoint. After implementing both frontend and backend, our experts returned to Doha to present the complete intranet solution and facilitate its adoption by the organization.
A streamlined communication platform – for everyone
Thanks to our comprehensive and detailed approach, we have enabled more coherent communication between employees and students of CNA-Q, as well as between the administration and prospective students.
Streamlined, transparent communication was key to achieving better ongoing outcomes for CNA-Q, particularly in terms of student enrollment numbers and churn rates.
